Cleetus McFarland took to Facebook to share that NASCAR has not granted him permission to run superspeedways in the O’Reilly Series at this time. Despite his efforts in a recent race, NASCAR did not see enough to approve him for these tracks. Cleetus acknowledges that he is relatively new to NASCAR, stating that his mission was not to rush to the top. He recognizes the need for more experience in ARCA, Trucks, and O’Reilly cars to improve his skills. While he is disappointed by the setback, he remains optimistic about gaining more track time to eventually compete at Daytona and Talladega in the future.
Richard Childress Racing’s Danny Lawrence also anticipated this decision, suggesting that NASCAR may request Cleetus to run more races before tackling the superspeedways. NASCAR officials, including John Probst, expressed their appreciation for Cleetus’s contributions to the sport but stressed the importance of seeing more from him before approving him for races at Daytona and Talladega. With the support of his team and the NASCAR community, Cleetus is determined to continue learning and growing as a driver to achieve his racing goals.
