Timo Glock faced significant challenges during his 2025 DTM campaign, which he described as a disaster due to his struggles on the track. However, Glock is determined to start fresh in the new season after undergoing major changes to his Dorr McLaren. These changes were implemented to address the issues that plagued him in the previous year, with a focus on improving the performance of his car and enhancing his racing luck.
Over the winter, Glock and his team made significant adjustments behind the scenes, including bringing in new personnel like GT3 head Volker Strycek and a new race engineer, Gerd Kusstatscher. These changes were aimed at restructuring certain areas of the team and enhancing the overall performance of the car. However, limited preparation time and technical issues during testing posed challenges for Glock in building a strong rapport with his new engineer.
Glock’s pre-season preparations were further hampered by a disrupted winter program, with minimal track time available for testing. Despite these setbacks, Glock and his team remained focused on addressing the key weaknesses of the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. The team worked closely with the DMSB to modify the suspension kinematics of the car, aiming to improve drivability and tyre warm-up through a softer set-up.
In addition to suspension adjustments, the team also reprogrammed the ABS system and switched brake suppliers for the upcoming season. These changes were made in accordance with DTM regulations and aimed at improving the car’s performance while also considering financial factors and sponsorship opportunities. To ensure fairness, Dorr Motorsport agreed to use consistent brake suppliers throughout the season in collaboration with rival teams to avoid any potential impact on the Balance of Performance.
Despite the challenges faced by Glock and his team, they remain optimistic about the upcoming season and are fully committed to turning things around. By focusing on key areas of improvement and implementing strategic changes to the car, Glock aims to achieve better results and make a strong comeback in the 2026 DTM season.
