Prior to joining Spire, Gabehart served as a competition director at Joe Gibbs Racing and enjoyed a successful career with the organization, including multiple race wins as a crew chief for Denny Hamlin.
Joe Gibbs Racing also filed a motion to prevent Gabehart from working at Spire, citing concerns over the misuse of proprietary information.
