National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has taken a proactive step to boost local employment by enlisting workers from impoverished communities for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG). Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, disclosed that a minimum of 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will be chosen from households facing extreme poverty, as per the President’s directive to ensure the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program not only contributes to job creation but also helps those in need. Presently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established through partnerships with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members volunteering for the initiative. The MBG Program has positively impacted over 7.4 million individuals nationwide, including students at various educational levels, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and more. In a bid to widen the program’s outreach, BGN is planning to introduce an additional 2,401 SPPG units within the next 10 days, with the goal of catering to around 15 million beneficiaries. This move demonstrates a significant commitment to bolstering job opportunities and addressing nutritional requirements within marginalized communities.
