Rama, a single mother from Bogor Regency, West Java, finds hope and gratitude in the government’s Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School). For her, this tuition-free boarding school is more than just an educational institution for her son, Ridwan. It is a sanctuary where he is treated with respect, kindness, and genuine care. Rama, overwhelmed with emotions, expressed her relief and happiness during an interview at Sekolah Rakyat located in Sentra Terpadu Inten Suweno, Cibinong, Bogor.
As a single mother struggling to make ends meet after losing her first husband and having Ridwan’s father remarry, Rama initially felt hopeless about sending Ridwan to school. However, an unexpected opportunity arose when Ridwan was selected for the fully funded residential education program at Sekolah Rakyat. Despite her initial hesitation, Rama decided to enroll her son after speaking with a social worker who assured her that the school would not cost anything.
Witnessing firsthand how the school provided discipline, care, and attention to her child, Rama felt a renewed sense of hope and gratitude. The program not only provided Ridwan with an education but also restored his self-worth, giving his mother a newfound sense of hope and optimism. Rama shared how Ridwan had previously faced bullying for his inability to read, but now, with the support of Sekolah Rakyat, he is thriving in a safe and nurturing environment.
Looking towards the future, Rama dreams of her son becoming a successful and educated individual despite their challenging circumstances. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to President Prabowo Subianto and everyone involved in the program for offering their support and making a positive impact on their lives.
